RJC, Staub awarded task order
RJC Architects of San Diego, along with locally based Straub Construction, has been awarded a $16.6 million task order to design and build a Human Resource Service Center at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.
The work includes design and construction of a new 51,198-square-foot two-story facility for administrative offices as well as conference and training rooms. The project is scheduled for completion by March 2011.
"The project is particularly important because of its highly visible location on Miramar Way near the Main Gate to the air station," said John Turpit, RJC Architects' project designer.
RJC Architects has worked on Navy and Marine bases throughout the region, including Camp Pendleton in north San Diego County and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
At Camp Pendleton, RJC Architects is working on a $54 million assignment for the Force Intelligence Operations Center.
The firm previously designed the project's second phase, which was completed about 18 months ago. The third phase is under construction, with Fallbrook-based Straub Construction as the design-build contractor.
RJC Architects also was recently selected to design the western headquarters for Marine Corps Special Operations at Camp Pendleton.
RJC's scope of work for the $55 million project includes a 90,000-square-foot administration building, a 24,000-square-foot applied instruction facility and other support structures.
Founded in 1992, RJC Architects, Inc. has worked on projects with an aggregate construction value exceeding $1.5 billion.
Some of the current and recently completed projects include the $531 million San Diego County Operations Center, Coronado's $30 million City Hall and Community Center, a $31 million renovation of the historic Del Monte Hotel at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, and a $24 million parking structure at California State University at San Marcos.
